What we do

Novum’s Private Growth Capital (“PGC”) “Introductory Services” business is focused on helping the very best UK businesses find growth capital from the right investors at critical points of a new company’s development whilst at a fledgling ‘unlisted’ stage.  We have access to pools of capital from investors prepared to back management teams of start-ups, to accelerate proof-of-concept achievers, or to help expand a winning model.  Drawing on our deep experience in capital markets, we believe that we must choose the companies with whom we partner with extreme discipline, and then work hard with management teams to prepare for new investor contact.

James Rose
Head of Private Growth Capital

James started in capital markets with Cazenove in 1994, first as a writing analyst before moving to distribution. After periods at Goldman Sachs and Citi, where he ran the European share sales desk into UK clients, he spent a decade restructuring or building brokerages.  Through the past decade, James has become more and more focused on helping the highest quality private companies find growth capital.  In essence, by moving from public to private markets, he has returned to the skills learned at Cazenove.

Mike Broome
 

Mike has worked in Financial Markets for over 35 years. He started his career working for the Royal Bank of Scotland before becoming an Institutional Investment Manager and qualifying in an MSc in Investment Analysis from University of Stirling.  For the next 20 years Mike was a senior equities Stockbroker in European and UK markets. In this period, he worked for Deutsche Bank, Bernstein Research and HSBC and was responsible for the running and managing of teams within the firms he represented. For most of this period he was a Managing Director focusing on the Research and Sales offering to the key Institutional clients. In the last 10 years Mike has advised and assisted Corporates and other clients on their Strategy and helping raise private capital.

Andrew Davidson
 

Andrew has spent 25 years raising capital for listed companies with the likes of Cazenove, Goldman Sachs and UBS, and his passion for helping smaller companies saw him join the small and mid cap broker Liberum Capital (which has since been acquired by Panmure Gordon) at its foundation.  He left in 2011 to focus on the Private Capital space since when he has been both an early stage (pre seed) investor for 15 years and an advisor to companies, for whom he has raised > $100m over that time.
